Remember: no two people are the same.
Lots of people have lots of questions about birth control, including but not limited to: what is the most effective type? What are common side effects of birth control? Which birth control can help with painful periods, or acne? Which method is totally private? Another common one we get is: what is the best birth control for teens and young adults? Here’s what the providers at your nearest The Right Time health center will say: the best method is any method that works for you!
Remember: no two people are the same. We all have different needs, preferences, and lifestyles – all of which are important to discuss with a provider when you are thinking about starting any method of contraception. What one person wants from their birth control might be totally different from what someone else wants from their birth control. So, a method that works for one person might not work for another – it’s impossible to classify one type as “best.”
Luckily, there are so many different types of birth control that you’ve got options if one isn’t working the way you want. It’s totally okay! You can get all birth control methods for free or at a low cost at your nearest The Right Time health center.
Another way to try and figure out what the “best” method would be for you is to ask yourself, What is the best method for … (something you want from your birth control?)” To give an example, what are the best methods for getting rid of your period? (The top choices for that are hormonal IUDs, the shot, and the implant, just fyi.)
